The Mudhouse Mansion

Built between 1840 and 1850 this ornate mansion and its outbuildings ( note the roofs) have been the object of ghost stories and legends that have thrilled generations of Fairfield County young people.

Little of fact is really known about the mansion and its inhabitants.

We have found no factual basis for stories of ghosts, murders etc.

The name Mud House given the house and the road, comes from the first building built with brick and mortar in the Lancaster area.
The Mudhouse tavern was located where Zanes's Trace crossed what is
now Mudhouse road.

WARNING: This house is has been the site of numerous parties and ghost hunting expeditions. After all the years it has been abused and abandoned, the floors and walls are not to be trusted.

Should you go to see the mansion, do not enter the house, it could be dangerous. REMEMBER IT IS PRIVATE PROPERTY
NOTES: Anyone that wants to visit the Mudhouse Mansion
it is not safe and is on private property.
Over $400 fine for trespassing.
